3 Science Teaching jobs

Teaching students about the natural world, and universe, around them is a rewarding task. Science teachers have the opportunity every day to teach students about this remarkable planet, and beyond. Science curriculum may differ in topic and complexity by grade level, for example, earth sciences are usually kept to elementary or middle school levels, while high school may expand to biology, chemistry, and physics. Science teachers often use a variety of instruction methods, not limited to lectures, but often including hands-on labs and experiments. Some duties of a science teacher may include:

  • Developing grade-appropriate lesson plans that will instruct and spark inquiry in students
  • Create projects and hands-on lab activities that will require students to use scientific methodology
  • Provide instruction that will meet the needs of small groups, and individual students
  • Collaborate with other teachers in the subject area, and those in grade level teams to ensure meeting student needs
  • Evaluate student understanding and progress
